WITH today’s notebook prices going as low as RM2,000, it can be tempting to buy one instead of a desktop.
You can start with an idea of how much you want to spend on your notebook. The price of a notebook will also depend on its specifications – the better the processor, the larger the hard drive and the bigger the memory, the heftier price tag it carries.
Some notebooks also come with a built-in Webcam and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in wireless local area network (LAN) connectivity (so you can surf at hotspot or places with a wireless network connection) and DVD/CD-RW/ DVD-RW combo drives.
As high-definition (HD) flu is catching on, the latest notebooks such as the Sony Vaio VGN-AR38G also comes with a Blu-ray disc drive and HD capabilities.
However, you may not use all the technology bundled into the notebook. One way to decide which notebook to buy is to know what you’ll be using your laptop for.
You can gauge your requirements based on the software that you’ll be using.
You can find the recommended systems requirements either on the software’s box or at its Web site.
