Lim apologises, DAP reps to attend ceremony

The crisis which developed yesterday over the appointment of a PAS menteri besar in a DAP-led Perak state assembly seemed to have been resolved today.

DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang who rejected the appointment of a PAS candidate today apologised for any offence caused to the Perak royalty over his statement.

“My three-paragraph statement at 7pm last night that the DAP central executive committee emergency meeting on March 9 had not given approval for a PAS mentri besar to head a Perak coalition state government was not made out of disrespect to the Perak sultan and regent, both whom I have always held in the highest regard and I apologise for any offence caused," he said.

“The statement was on the party position at the time. There have been further discussions and developments on the matter in the hours after the statement. Announcements of the latest position will be made.”

This was immediately followed by state DAP chairperson and Sitiawan state assemblyperson Ngeh Khoo Ham who told Malaysiakini that whatever misunderstanding that occurred over the matter has been clarified.

He also said that all DAP elected representatives will attend the swearing in ceremony before the Sultan of Perak in Kuala Kangsar today at 4pm.

"The new coalition government stands united and has agreed to a collective leadership form of governance. All policy decisions of the new government will only be implement after the executive councillors of the state have approved them."

National interest above all

Meanwhile, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said in Penang today that his party will place priority on national interest and the Perak royalty in handling the controversy.

The new Penang chief minister also pointed out that he has issued a directive to all Perak elected representatives to attend the swearing-in ceremony this afternoon.

"I have decided as the DAP secretary-general that we should deal with party internal matters on a different platform. I want to look at the larger question - the national interest and secondly, to ensure our respect and loyalty to the Perak Sultan," he told a press conference.

Guan Eng said this when asked to comment on his father's strongly-worded statement yesterday opposing the appointment of Nizar. He was met by reporters at the Dewan Sri Pinang after witnessing the swearing in ceremony of 10 state exco members this morning.

When asked if the DAP accepted Nizar’s appointment, Guan Eng merely said he has asked all the party's elected representatives to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

Whether or not we are voting for DAP. PKR or PAS is not the point.

The decision to assign new MP is not in our hand.
Its Sultan’s decision! Please remember this!

Attending swearing-in ceremony carry no meaning that DAP is endorsing PAS’s mission in anyway! Please remember this as well!

DAP always stand up for us and against any administration based of any races and religions. And this is the 1st time where a non-Malay, non-Muslim candidate name had been submitted to Sultan for selection!

If unity worth nothing, yet no way for us to really work out a Malaysian Malaysia. Respect is what we need to learn and need to show by ourselves before we can really ask other to show the same to us!

(PS: emanuel… you will never walk far if you still cant really think as a ‘MALAYSIAN MALAYSIA’ vision, and the most importantly learn how to RESPECT!

MALAYs and MUSLIMs did contributed much in DAP winning in GE12! They did tried to accept DAP, when there are still with huge number of us which voted another barisan! Perak is not a state with pure Chinese only! We cant walk alone by only ourself.

WAKEUP!!!
All Lao Uncle… Lao Ah Soh…and also with your LAO KOK KOK mind!
Malaysia had been announced as an Islamic Country, even without PAS flag flying in every corner in this country.

Learn how to respect Malays and their religions and they will do the same on us.

For the very least reason, all 3 parties in Barisan rakyat willing to have ‘fair discussion’ within 1 another.

Still you are making noise and tell that we should reject Sultan’s decision by pulling them down.

No one will respect you if you cant even willing to show some respect to Sultan’s decision.

SAD on your Lao KOK KOK mind, which just wont work at all this is country’s democracy development!)

Now I conclude that, Kit Siang is burden to the DAP and Barisan Rakyat. Don't talk about Malaysian Malaysia if don't know how to achieve it. It sounds like he is incapable to control the situation. When people are trying to respect him, he don't appreciate the people aspiration. Definately, BA will collapse in the long run just because of leaders like Kit Siang. Kit Siang should follow like Lim Kien Yiek. Step down from the party. You're not relevent anymore to join forces for Barisan Rakyat alliance. Let the DAP youth leader navigate the DAP for Barisan Rakyat better future. This time, Rakyat want to deny the BN 2/3 majority. Next time, rakyat want to deny their simple majority. The wind of change will blow to the south and east Malysia. If Kit Siang is still there, he will destroy the effort. He gives a bad image of whole Barisan Rakyat. Mainstream media offcourse will use this reason to codemn rakyat for choosing BA. "Rakyat did the Mistake"

Neither you (Kit Siang) nor DAP won the election. WE, THE PEOPLE, THE BOSSES, MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR YOUR CANDIDATES TO GET THERE. Neither DAP, nor PKR, nor PAS got where you are without the PEOPLE. Is this so hard to get cross after all the years of concerted hard work?

and he (raja petra) advice Guan Eng to shape up his old man or PEOPLE will ship him (Kit Siang) out.
