While surveillance cameras operate using wire connections, they can be
remotely controlled with modifications and using transmitters and receivers.
Those with evil intentions, such as Peeping Toms, normally use a camera
of the complementary metal oxide semiconductor-type (CMOS).
With
modifications, the CMOS camera can be small enough to fit into light casings and
pictures remotely captured on a terminal at another location up to 160m away.

Camera vendor
Sean Ng said CMOS cameras generally produce lower resolutions compared to
colour-capture device (CCD) cameras.
"But the CCD cameras are bigger and
costlier compared to the CMOS type, so it is more unlikely that people will use
them (CCD cameras) for illegal activities," he said.
On Sunday, a
landlord was detained for allegedly fitting a spy camera near flourescent lamps
in three bathrooms of a house he had rented out to female students in Taman
Bullion Mewah, Jinjang.
Police went to the house and recovered the
cameras, which were believed to have been used to transmit images remotely.Sources said there are wireless CMOS cameras which are not available in.

They are reportedly
easier and convenient to install because modifications need not be done.
"Nowadays, wired CMOS cameras are normally made in China or Taiwan," Ng
said. "Therefore they are available at cheaper prices for as low as RM60
excluding the transmitters and receivers."

My worries is not due to pepole can easily buying spycam through internet trading... but how about other gadget. How about telecommunication snifer, listneing phone call, night vision binocular, guns, etc... too scary if our youngster can easily buying those items.
Who can help to solve this matter ? can we monitored the internet trading/transaction. we can monitor the postal courier... goverment policy is an appropriate mechanism to control this situation.
